 January 21, 2010

Congratulations!

Congratulations to Matt and Linnea Surprenant of Currie, this week’s $100 weekly calendar raffle winner.  Thank you for supporting our school!

Box Tops

Keep in mind that our Box Tops Competition will begin next Monday, January 18th and will run through Monday, February 1st.   Boxes will be in each classroom for the students to put their box tops in.  The grade that brings in the most box tops by February 1st will be treated to breakfast by Mrs. Neuman on Thursday, February 4th.

 Schwan’s Truckload Sale

This year, we once again have an opportunity to have our Schwan’s purchases benefit St. Mary’s School!  Our truckload sale is taking place on Friday, February 5th from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.  Everyone is invited to buy what they would like from the Schwan’s truck and St. Mary’s receives a percentage of the return.  The pre-order forms are used to make sure that the items you want are available for your purchase.  Pre-Order forms need to be turned into the school office by Monday, February 1st.  No money is needed now all payments are made on February 5th.

 St. Mary’s Basketball

Come cheer on the Echoes!  Our next game is Sunday, January 24th at 1:30 p.m. against Balaton here at St. Mary’s.  Based on the weather forecast, there is a concern that the game may not happen.  Please listen to Marshall radio channels, KKCK 99.7 FM or KMHL 1400AM or look on www.marshallradio.net for any cancellations or postponements.  Also, please remember to pick your children up from practice on time each Tuesday and Thursday.  Practice ends at 5:00 p.m. and our coaches have other things they need to get to, thank you for your help in this matter!

 Report Cards

Due to some late starts, early outs, and days off of school, the teaching staff needs some extra days to finish work and grades.  Report cards will come home on Friday, January 29th instead of Wednesday, January 27th.  Thank you!

 Catholic Schools Week

A list of events for Catholic Schools Week will come home next week.  Keep in mind that all of our students participate in the opening and closing masses by singing and lectoring on January 31st and February 7th.  Our parent lunch is Wednesday, February 3rd at 11:30 and Friday, February 5th is our Talent Show.  Everyone is welcome to join us for any events.

 Morning Drop-Off

Please remember to leave room for everyone who drops off their child/ren each morning.  Please park so that you are not blocking the sidewalk.  We have a small area to work with now that the snow piles are so large; there is no room to move around cars blocking the sidewalk.  Please be considerate of others!

 January Service Project

Our service project for January is Pennies for Patients which helps fundraise for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  We will kick off our service project on Monday, January 18th.  Students are encouraged to bring in their change.  We will have a competition between the boys and the girls to see who brings in the most pennies.  Our competition ends on Friday, January 29th.  Thank you to those who have already brought in money.  So far we have brought in $31 and the girls are in the lead. J

 Parish Meeting

The parish meeting has been rescheduled for next Wednesday, January 27th at 7:00 p.m.  All parents who weren’t able to make the parent meeting are invited to attend this meeting.  If you were able to make it to the parent meeting but have more to share, you are welcome to come again.

 SCRIP Lunch Phone Calls

All 4th and 5th grade students were asked to make phone calls inviting our SCRIP businesses to lunch during Catholic Schools Week.  Please make sure that all phone calls are finished by Wednesday, January 27th so that we can let Mrs. LaVoy know how many people will be coming to lunch.  If your 4th or 5th grader is having a hard time reaching their business person, please bring the sheet back to the office and we can help them reach their individual.

 Dress for Mass Days

This is a reminder that we need to dress nicely for school Mass days.  Lately, I’ve noticed our students wearing sweatpants, sweatshirts, and ripped jeans to church.  This is not appropriate church wear.  Please remind your child/ren to dress nicely and if needed their teachers will allow them to change into different clothes after Mass.   Thank you!

Mass with Bishop LeVoir

Bishop LeVoir will be joining us for Mass on Tuesday, January 26th at 8:30 a.m.  Everyone is invited to join us in worship that morning.  After Mass, the Bishop will be visiting each of the classrooms and is joining the students for lunch at 11:00 that morning.

Please have all orders for St. Mary’s Clothes back to the office by tomorrow, Friday, January 22nd.  I will be sending in all of the orders early next week.  Thank you!!!
